PEACE POEMS:
50 COLLAGES AFTER 50 DAYS OF WAR
The collages in this series are made of found paper, hand cut and pasted onto 5 x 7 inch watercolor paper. As an American-born visual artist living outside Tel Aviv at the time of the 2014 Israel-Gaza war, I felt an overwhelming urge to create. I felt obligated to make something beautiful after witnessing much ugliness in the region and world. After the sirens stopped and within 24 hours of the ceasefire, I began making these small collages. Part meditation, part hope, these collages were my way of processing 50 days of war. During the initial release of these collages, I donated 10% of the proceeds to Seeds of Peace, an organization dedicated to "empowering new generations of leaders from regions of conflict with the relationships, understanding, and skills needed to advance lasting peace."
